Auto Insurance Cancellation Edison New Jersey NJ

Filed under: SR22 auto insurance — maricar @ 10:13 pm

Reader’s Question:

Is there a grace period after an insurance policy has been cancelled by the insurance carrier in Edison, New Jersey? I also want to ask if an insurance carrier have to send a letter through mail to let the policyholder know about the cancellation?

Terrence

Edison, NJ

The Consumer Guide for Auto Insurance published by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) states that there is not grace period for car insurance policies that have cancelled or lapsed. Insurers must provide notice of payment due dates according to what kind of payment is due under current regulations.

If your insurance provider terminates your policy for non-payment you should receive a fifteen day warning notice. You should receive a twenty day warning notice for all other reasons. While insurance laws require an insurance company to provide proof that a notification was mailed, they are not required to mail any notice “return receipt” or “certified”.

If your insurance is non-renewed or cancelled, you can file an appeal with the New Jersey DOBI. This department cannot guarantee your reinstatement so they would suggest to shop for alternative insurance during this process.

Car Insurance Coverage Boise Idaho ID

Filed under: SR22 auto insurance — maricar @ 11:32 pm

Reader’s Question:

I just bought a new vehicle, and I did not turn in my old vehicle. I have auto insurance on the old vehicle, am I insured on the new car? How much time do I have before I need to buy the insurance on the new car in Boise, Idaho? My insurance broker is out of the country and won’t be back for another ten days. I do not want to drive my new vehicle, unless I know it is insured.

Helen

Boise, ID

Coverage for an additional car varies from state to state and insurance carrier to insurance carrier. Your state may or may not provide a grace period for coverage. So, I cannot guarantee you are insured to operate your newly acquired car. The only way to know for sure is to contact your state’s Department of Financial Services (or Department of Insurance). I suggest that you contact your insurance provider in Boise, Idaho. They will not be able to provide a grace period that is less than your state requires. However, they may provide a grace period that exceeds what your state requires.

SR22 Car Insurance Appleton Wisconsin WI

Reader’s Question:

I only have liability insurance on my vehicle. My son was driving it today and the engine caught on fire and the vehicle was totaled more or less. He has an SR22 insurance in Appleton, Wisconsin, and he told me that his SR22 insures him for any person’s car he may be driving at the time of an accident or loss. Is this true? Will his SR22 cover damages sustained to my vehicle because he was the driver?

Myleen

Appleton, WI

This type of insurance policy provides liability coverage only. It would’nt cover any physical damage to your car. Additionally, since he was driving your vehicle, your insurance policy would be primary and that too provides only liability coverage.

The SR22 policy that he has provides additional liability coverage for him while driving any non-owned car and also satisfies the state’s financial responsibility requirements.

You can get free auto insurance quote for your new car including physical damage coverage. Just put in your zip code and get free instant quote.

Non Owner Auto Insurance For Car Rental

Filed under: Non owner SR22, SR22 Certificate, SR22 auto insurance, SR22 form — maricar @ 8:53 pm

Reader’s Question:

I always rent a car and I would like to know what kind of insurance do I need?

Bill

Cedar Rapids, IA

If you usually rent a car, a non-owners SR22 policy might be the best option for you than relying on the insurance sold at rental companies. However collision and comprehensive coverage are not usually available or included for non-owners policies. It looks like you still need to get this from the rental company. Your non-owners auto insurance will cover you when you rent a vehicle and got involved in an accident while driving that motor vehicle. It will give liability coverage protection. If you drive your friend’s vehicle and damaged it, the car owner’s insurance takes precedence over your non-owners coverage. Your policy however, would be activated when the car owner’s liability limits are exhausted.

Online SR22 Auto Insurance Form

Filed under: SR22 auto insurance — maricar @ 11:49 pm

Reader’s Question:

What is an sr22 auto insurance form anyway?

Tyron

Thank you for asking Tyron.

The SR22 form is in essence an agreement between the insurance company and the DMV stating that they are providing the required coverage for you. The agreement also means that if for any reason at all they are not providing that coverage for you at any time they have to notify the DMV (usually through another SR form). Once the DMV receives this notice they will usually suspend your driving privileges for not maintaining the required high risk auto insurance coverage required for all drunk driving offenders.

So as you can see the SR22 form is basically the contract between the DMV and the insurance company. You need to work out the deal with the car insurance provider and then they’ll file the SR22 form for you which lets the Department of Motor Vehicle know that they are now responsible for your insurance needs.

Goodluck!

SR22 Insurance Information

Reader’s Question:

How long does an sr22 certificate for insurance stay active?

Therese

Thank you for asking Therese.

Until your state determines it can be removed or cancelled, your sr22 policy must remain active and on file. You may need to keep your SR-22 active for 36 months or more , or it could be a different time period . It actually depends on what state you are in so its best to check with your state to determine the specifics.

If you’re no longer required to carry your SR-22, you will need to notify your insurance provider to file the paperwork — an SR-26 form — to cancel or terminate it. Your insurance carrier may ask you to provide proof that the SR-22 has indeed been lifted, usually by providing paperwork from the DMV showing that you are no longer required to maintain an sr22 but filing the paperwork should be fairly simple.

Goodluck!

How To File an SR22 Certificate Online

Filed under: SR22 auto insurance — maricar @ 10:51 am

Reader’s Question:

How do I file an SR22 auto insurance certificate online?

Mike

Thank you for asking Mike.

Filing an SR-22 is is as simple as filling out the required form, sending it to the Department of Motor Vehicle within a specified time period. Insurance company will file an SR-22 for you if you notify them that you need one.

An SR-22 has all your personal information and information about your car insurance , including whether you own the insurance policy or are an operator on it. It also includes as well the certification from your insurance company that you have the proper amounts of insurance specified by your state. A properly completed and filed SR-22 will help you remain legal to drive.

If your insurance policy is canceled, terminated or lapse while you’re still required to carry an SR-22, your insurance provider will notify your state. This will invalidate your SR-22 and could cause your driving privileges to be suspended or revoked. As long as your insurance policy remains active, your SR-22 auto insurance certificate should remain valid.

Goodluck!

Why Do You NeeD SR22 Insurance?

Filed under: SR22 auto insurance — maricar @ 10:41 am

Reader’s Question:

I am required to carry an sr22 insurance certificate after a DUI conviction? What is it and why do I need it?

Ria

Thank you for asking Ria.

SR-22s also are associated with the following:

* DUI or DWI or any serious moving violation
* At-fault accidents while driving without insurance
* Repeat traffic offenses
* Getting too many tickets in a short time period
* License suspension or revoked license

SR-22 form is being filed by your insurance company with your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to show proof of insurance for you. Once the insurance company file your SR-22, your license suspension will be lifted and you can drive again legally.

SR-22s are state specific — what’s required in one state may not apply in another state.

SR-22 Auto Insurance is different from state to state. You may check with your insurance company or agent to verify the SR-22 specifics for your state.

Online Non Owners SR22 Insurance

Filed under: Non owner SR22, SR22 auto insurance — maricar @ 7:55 am

Reader’s Question:

Is it true that auto insurance follows the car? What if I’m required to carry an sr22 certificate but I do own a vehicle? Is this coverage “non owners” insurance?

Miguel

Thank you for asking Miguel.

Not all insurance follows the car.

Liability coverage doesn’t always follow the car but rather the driver. It can get complicated to know which insurance policy should be used primary, secondary or even tertiary in these situations.

An SR22 is a form which must be filed by the insurance company stating that auto liability insurance is in effect for a particular driver. It is required an individual who got involve in an accident or was convicted of a moving violation and was unable to show financial responsibility. If you do not own a vehicle, you may purchase the non owners sr22.

To pay damages to others (property or bodily injury) you will need a liability insurance. Liability can be caused by a person while they are in a car or even if they borrowed a car from someone else.

Goodluck!
