Reader’s Question:
I always rent a car and I would like to know what kind of insurance do I need?

If you usually rent a car, a non-owners SR22 policy might be the best option for you than relying on the insurance sold at rental companies. However collision and comprehensive coverage are not usually available or included for non-owners policies. It looks like you still need to get this from the rental company. Your non-owners auto insurance will cover you when you rent a vehicle and got involved in an accident while driving that motor vehicle. It will give liability coverage protection. If you drive your friend’s vehicle and damaged it, the car owner’s insurance takes precedence over your non-owners coverage. Your policy however, would be activated when the car owner’s liability limits are exhausted.
