I just want to know what are the states that require SR22 insurance certificates?

Tina

Thank you for asking Tina.

An SR-22 is a certificate that shows proof of financial responsibility. An individual is required to obtain an SR-22 if he/she gets caught driving without insurance. This is usually required for a specified amount of time and usually its three years.

This proof of financial certificate is also are associated with the following offenses in many states:

* DUI or DWI or any serious moving violation
* At-fault accidents while driving without insurance
* Repeat traffic offenses or getting too many tickets in a short time period
* License suspension or revoked license

Requirements in getting an sr22 differ in one state may not apply in another state. Delaware, Oklahoma ,Kentucky, Minnesota, New Mexico and Pennsylvania are the states that do not require SR-22s. However, if you have an SR-22 and then move to one of these states, you must continue to meet the requirements of the SR-22 state where the offense was committed.

States like New York and North Carolina do not require SR-22 filing.

Goodluck!
