Reader’s Question:
What is an sr22 auto insurance form anyway?
Tyron
Thank you for asking Tyron.
The SR22 form is in essence an agreement between the insurance company and the DMV stating that they are providing the required coverage for you. The agreement also means that if for any reason at all they are not providing that coverage for you at any time they have to notify the DMV (usually through another SR form). Once the DMV receives this notice they will usually suspend your driving privileges for not maintaining the required high risk auto insurance coverage required for all drunk driving offenders.
So as you can see the SR22 form is basically the contract between the DMV and the insurance company. You need to work out the deal with the car insurance provider and then they’ll file the SR22 form for you which lets the Department of Motor Vehicle know that they are now responsible for your insurance needs.
Goodluck!
